"Can't Go Wrong" - Phillip Phillips

We all LOVED Colonia! Krista from Germany and Julie from France decided to come with us to see Uruguay and we all fell in love with it. First we had to take a ferry over to to Uruguay, and I must say ferry travel is the way to go. Kelsey and I booked our tickets online and the only ferry with the time we wanted was 30 pesos more, but we figured it was worth not having to wake up at 5. Well when we got to the ferry we learned it was first class! So we got to sit by the windows in fancy table seats with a glass of champagne while Julie and Krista had "torista" seating. It was pretty great and the whole transfer over with customs and luggage way less stressful. We get to Colonia and it is quiet. Everything is closed between 12-2 because naturally its nap time. There is no traffic, few cars, and everyone uses vespas or golfcarts! It was so wonderful and just a great change from Buenos Aires.
Our glass of champagne in first class. (cant figure out how to flip it...)

My delicious Gnocchi on my first of many Gnocchi days.
We walked to old town after checking into our hotel and fell in love with the cobblestone streets and old cars decorated with art, tables, plants, you name it. Then we went to look at the church and two people had MUSC biker shirts on walking out of the church. I ran up and was like "Are Yall from Charleston" They both had gone to MUSC and were now in Residency! And to top it all of, the guy was good friends with Patrick and Toms! Two of my friends from there! It was so crazy. They were biking across Uruguay! Then we went to the water before heading to dinner for GNOCCHI DAY! Apparently every 29th is Gnocchi Day in Uruguay and Argentina! It was perfect and we had delicous gnocchi and I decided that every 29th I will eat gnocchi.

Wednesday we spent more time walking around Colonia, did laundry, and went to the beach. A couple of Belgium guys from our hostel joined us and we had a good day in the sun and an evening spent eating pizza and learning how to cheers in other languages.

Thursday we caught a bus to Montevideo and walked well over 10 blocks to our hostel. It was a trek. But we made it checked in and walked around old town and got icecream so we were way better. Then we learned that the Carnival Parade was that night! So we had dinner and got to watch the parade with all the fun music and costumes. It made me miss Brazil and carnival with Karly and Sam! Friday we left early to catch a bus to the airport for PATAGONIA. It was really sad because we had to finally say goodbye to Krista and Julie. We had really enjoyed hanging out with them for the past week and we hope to all see each other again! Either here in South America or another trip to Europe.... well see.

Our friends on the beach who shared Mate with us.
